welcome to Graduate Hospital

Last month, we confirmed that CVS was indeed coming to South Street West, replacing a surface parking lot.

In the past

The other day, we noticed that work has begun at the site at 22nd and South Sts., with the old fence removed, concrete and dirt moved around, and some lovely, mature trees coming down.

Present day

Another angle

It’s certainly a shame to see the greenery eliminated at the expense of the new construction, but we can’t say we expected this extremely desirable lot to remain a surface parking lot for much longer. Hopefully, they’ll have room to plant a couple of new trees in their little parking lot.

Coming soon

There will be like 8 spots or something in the back? I believe its in the earlier CVS article on here. I’m most sad about losing the trees – that and the construction noise at 7:30 every morning.

These types of businesses are not interested in managing residential space and usually will not budge on that point.  It’s a major lack of foresight, doesn’t fit into the neighborhood, and will really stick out when west South St. grows into a thriving commercial corridor, but their business is in running pharmacies and a single story is all they need for that.

A single strory cookie-cutter chain pharmacy? Surely this prize location deserved better. And I suppose their windows will be covered up as is this chain’s wont, and your mention of “little” parking lot was meant ironically?
