welcome to Point Breeze

The affordable housing homeownership development on the 1700 block of Federal Street, which we’ve told you about in the past, is nearing the finish line. Built by Community Ventures and funded with NSP2 dollars, these homes, like many affordable housing developments started in this neighborhood in the past year, look more like private development than strereotypical affordable housing.

The homes

Unfortunately, these new construction homes are not immune to the acts of vandals. Check out these photos:

Sure, we see graffiti on buildings all over town, but not usually on homes that were just built. Hopefully, the developers will deal with this soon. Broken window theory, ya know?

They should have a finger chopped off for each tag…sounds fair to me.  On a different note, are they going to coat that beam or trim it out?  That rust is an eye sore as much as the spray paint.

One of the greatest things this city offers…

    http://www.phila.gov/antigraffiti/removalform.html

Free Graffiti Removal…I have filled out this form at least 20 times and within 2 weeks the graffiti is gone.  If it is stucco they send somone out to paint it; if it is Brick then it is usually power washed and/or scrubbed (thats what I have seen thus far).  Hope this helps.

That’s a shame.  Is this new?  The backs of all of those houses were hit back in May I think.  I can remember only a few other new construction houses being tagged in the neighborhood, I guess that courtyard with nobody watching over it is just too tempting of a target.
