welcome to Point Breeze

Six weeks ago, we told you about excavations in preparation for two new foundations on the 2000 block of Ellsworth Street. These lots, in the middle of a block that’s seen plenty of new construction and rehabbing in the past few years, had sat vacant for many moons.

In August

We swung by 2032 and 2034 Ellsworth St. the other day and realized that these homes are moving along rather rapidly. Check it out.

Wowza

From the west

At this rate, it won’t be long now until these homes contain new neighbors for a block that’s already seen plenty this year. Whether the remaining vacant lot at 2034 will be built on any time, soon, we have no idea.

Are new houses built in Philadelphia ever going to be good looking?

Not Surprising! Although these homes aren’t attractive, the area and block are nice.

Am I the only one that thinks that these don’t look all that bad? Sure the windows could be bigger and a cornice, well, present, but the brickwork looks good to me. It’s a filler building on par with the quality of its’ neighbors when they were constructed.
