welcome to Rittenhouse

Famous Dave’s BBQ Shack has shuttered its doors, a little over a year into its lease at 1725 Chestnut Street.  If you’re still jonesing for some Famous Dave’s, the locations on Columbus Blvd and in the Northeast are still open! Otherwise, you may just have to slum it at Phoebe’s BBQ at 2214 South St. or Percy St. BBQ at 900 South St.

So Famous

Just not famous enough

Prior to Famous Dave’s, the space was home to Goodburger, which also only lasted about a year and a half.

Not "good" enough, either

We’re hopeful that this Center City block won’t allow the space to sit vacant for too long; we’re thinking that it would most likely be another fast-casual food user due to the build out of the space. Or would a totally different concept have a greater chance of success?

What do we think? Could the previous two concepts simply not cut it, or is the space cursed?

How about there are a ridiculous amount of places to eat in center city so places are going to close almost as fast as new ones open.

How about they put something not awful there next?

Anybody know what’s going on with Ron’s Ribs on 16th and South?

You can never go wrong with Chick-Fil-A.

I have to wait 15-20 minutes to get served at the one in Liberty Place.

I’ve never been to a Famous Dave’s, but Goodburger was solid, and very successful in NYC. Even with an alcohol license the place couldn’t cut it.  Location is cursed.

It seems that the bigger corporations haven’t made it there, but maybe a smaller business? If the landlord was willing to negotiate the price, maybe a local business could try there luck. Too many corporations on these blocks will eventually lead to what Chestnut street looks like now between broad and 9th streets. DiBruno Bros. has made a killing on that block as well as scoop di ville.

Smokin’ Betty’s at 11th and Sansom if you’re looking for nearby bbq as well.

And people say the Chick-Fil-A folks are haters…
