welcome to South Philly

A reader tipped us off about Avanno’s Pizza, a new place coming soon to the corner of 3rd & Snyder, replacing Snyder Pizza.

In the past

In an effort to differentiate from the previous business, the new proprietors have decided to paint the building green, and apparently take a bit of an Irish theme.

Recent shot

On Snyder Ave

We get what they’re trying to do here, and the building certainly pops in a way it didn’t before, but… the guy from the Celtics logo, spinning a pizza? Hilarious, yes, but isn’t this a Sixers town? Not saying it’s gonna cost them any business, but it’s still a curious choice, no?

Not to mention the Notre Dame Logo. After all this is a Penn State Tow………er….never mind.

I think the intention was an “Irish” looking building in the only Irish area of South Philly.  What is amusing is that its attached to a pizzeria with an Italian name.

They could just stick the ” o’ ” at the other end of their name, if it becomes a problem.

I wouldn’t call Philly a sixers town or an NBA town at all

It’s not just cheesy (nyuk-nyuk) to rip off someone else’s logo, it’s illegal. They’re paying the owners for the right to use those? Su-u-re they are. If we owned a business, who among us would like it if they ripped off a logo which we put thought and money into creating for ourselves?

And from a purely practical standpoint, ya gotta wonder—if they’re willing to steal in that way, what else are they willing to do?

So, Notre Dame’s sued grade schools for doing the same thing. I don’t think they’d be above taking on a bar in Philly.

As a Bostonian who has recently re-settled in South Philly, I just hope this will be a friendly place to watch C’s games

  • Partyforthegood

Sixers were 14th in attendance last season with a mediocre team and ZERO superstars.  If Philly isn’t a NBA town than most aren’t.

Don’t get your hopes up, bud.

its not a bar its a pizzeria

all the haters out there…do u have nothing better to do with your time than to talk about a business or the way its painted or what culture the name came from…this is an all nationality city and its ok these days to give an italian name to a baby who is predominantly irish most of u idiots dont have an irish name and if u do its cause it was changed to what it is today by ur ancestors who took on that name when they exited the boat…and the moron who posted this shit is probably just tryna get raves for his site…get a real job…and for u dumb asses who think they know it all the irish logos were painted solely for the fact its an irish neighborhood not to steal someones logo…thats why there are different team logos… dumb dumbs…it was done to make the store look nice but i forgot ppl dont like nice things in their neighborhoods so the talk trash about it…so after all is said and done and the store is open stop on in…have a slice a pepsi and enjoy the rest of your miserable life talkin about other peoples flaws and acting like you have none….. yeah i said it…

“haters” with nothing better to do such as the nba, the boston celtics, notre dame and the ncaa… ? i don’t think they take too fondly to the very unofficial use (and mangling of) their logos.
