Around the corner from the new and chic Arrow Swim Club, a project that’s been stalled for five years seems to have some new wheels.

Last month, developers presented their plans for the construction of 20 homes with 20 parking spots at 1102 Hope Street to the members of the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association (NLNA).

“We highly encourage this project because we need some development over there,” said NLNA zoning committee chair Larry Freedman.

But first, more details must be presented to the members of the NLNA.

Developers appeared before the zoning committee without drawings, and will have to come back soon for members to vote on the project. Five years ago, the zoning committee approved the construction of 20 homes with garages at the location, but Freedman said he’s not sure how similar the current…

A tipster just clued us in that Tower Investments is sending out this mass text to all their tenants: “Arrow Swim Club is open to residents during the week until June 15.” (Excessive exclamation points not included). If every Tower residents with an ID can swim in the “members-only” pool, does this mean Arrow is struggling with meeting its membership goal of 1000 members? Naked readers who have been to the club tell us it is looking great, but very disorganized management-wise. It’s a shame if it is the case that they need more members; as much as there is a debate over this project, we fully support such an innovative use of property (empty lots are usually transformed into more homes, another restaurant/bar, or retail space) in a neighborhood that has the space and support for experimental projects like this. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into yet another ultra-chic Cashman event, surrounded by the luxe of glass-tiled columns and crystal chandeliers juxtaposed with exposed beamed ceilings and brick walls. Five minutes into the event, we were already wishing this was part of the pool club. Nicole Cashman and Bart Blatstein mingled with the VIP guests, hoping the cabana and bikini-clad models would assuage our desires for the Arrow pool…

Nicole Cashman, CEO of Cashman Associates, has partnered up with Bart Blatstein of Tower Investments to open Arrow Swim Club to the public on May 1 at 1031 Germantown Avenue in Northern Liberties (coincidentally right near the Cashman offices. Long lunches perhaps?). This power duo has created a Delano-esque scene right in the city (something Philly can afford space-wise) for those who didn’t make the four-year waiting list at the Palm Springs-esque Lombard Swim Club (gotta’ love the Always Sunny’s shout-out) or those that don’t find the luxury in bathing on concrete with the plebeians at Queen Village’s Philadelphia Sports Club. The corner spot has been Tower Investments’ property since 2004, and it’s exciting to see Philly be able to offer this kind of thing to it’s cities denizens as most cities can’t (anything that puts us above…
