PhillyCarShare, Philly’s local non-profit car sharing service, recently moved their offices to 1226 Chestnut St.

After being acquired by Enterprise Holdings last summer, they wanted their new office space to be at street-level, giving more exposure to the brand, as well as offering customers a place to drop by with gas receipts and any questions they may have.  According to their press release, “The new location, which is convenient to mass transit and walk-in customers, is consistent with the environmental commitment that is a hallmark of PhillyCarShare, as well as Enterprise.”  Kind of nice to have a local brand with a local retail presence, no?

Ah, there’s nothing Mr. Fox hates more than friendly competition (patience was a virtue that we never learned); we prefer the animalistic kind with a clear winner. However, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, AAA and ZipCar‘s first Commuter Challenge for Philadelphia is something we can support. The challenge begins next Friday, May 20, on National Bike to Work Day, but companies can start creating teams now. Organizations will log their employees bike- and walk-to-work miles and the Coalition will choose winners for each month, as well as winners for the whole summer (the challenge ends in September). This is the first year the Coalition has done the challenge as a summer-longer event with separate website.
