Washington Square West
1214 Chestnut Street, which used to be retail store Unica, will be taken over by a new mystery restaurant. Shimshon Zaken has applied to the Zoning Board of Adjustments for a certificate for an eat-in-only restaurant on the ground floor. The posted zoning notice (as well as the facade of 1214) seem like something out of Silent Hill, and we’ve never heard of Zaken before (unless you’re talking about the famous Israeli Minesweeper champion). While there is no word on the name of the new spot or what type of cuisine will be served, we will definitely be keeping our eye out for any revelations on the Center City eatery.
